Source, Develop & Sell from China

Hi there! # iTrepreneurs

I’m Laura Cortes, the founder, and developer of OlingoCo.

As an entrepreneur and business specialist, I thought that after graduating from school, everything would be straightforward. However, it turned out to not even begin with understanding what makes China’s bustling world of entrepreneurship tick!

Now, after twelve years of working at the heart of the electronics industry in Shenzhen, China, having had many ups and downs along the way, I’m ready to share my knowledge in the hopes of helping you along your journey.

Why OlingoCo?

In the summer of 2020, OlingoCo will take its first steps, as an online learning platform specializing in sourcing, developing, and selling products from China for your online shop. We coach and help iTrepreneurs start their online business. From a simple idea to a full online shop.

“For years, I have dedicated myself to learning the ins and outs of conducting business in China. And now I’m ready to help YOU improve the knowledge and skills needed to bring your business idea to fruition"

Let me help you by Answering some of the most common Questions

What can I produce in China?

This is probably one of the most common questions people ask me — and although I could give a full webinar about it, I want to give you a quick answer: China can produce just about anything. If you want to buy or manufacture a product from China and sell it in your home country, don’t start with sourcing. Rather, determine what the market in your country is doing. Define your client and what they need; once you know you can reliably make sales, only then start sourcing your suppliers.

What products should I sell?

Never buy a product that you don't already have a client to sell to!

What product is popular in China?

This is the second most popular question I get and, just like the first, I always respond that China is a different world than the one you operate in. Certain products that are popular in China may or may not be popular in your home country.

However, the best way to understand what is becoming popular in Asia is by checking what products China is exporting the most. Manufacturing is the most popular industry in China, accounting for 46.8% of China’s GDP; within this industry, you have: garments, mobile accessories, smartphones, toys.

So, you can take a tiered approach:

A) Top Market in China

B) Top Industry

C) Top Product

 D) Top Client Profile

Go from Big to Small!

How much money do I need to start an online shop selling products from China?

This is probably one of the most important questions anyone can ask. And truly, I wish there was a quick and easy answer. However, I can tell you that the amount of money you’ll need to invest is likely not as much as you think. With the internet revolution, there are now many ways to start an online business with a minimal budget — from Shopify, Amazon, to your own website, the most important element is first understanding what steps you need to take and how to take them before you invest any amount of money.
